K-Pop Star 3: Round 1 Episodes 1-3

Hey guys! Q is back and I’m here to bring you guys new recaps of a new television show: K-pop Star 3!  K-pop Star 3 is one of my favorite audition shows and I’m extremely excited to be writing about this.  How this is going to work is that I’m going to recap each round and then when the live shows hit, I will recap each episode. For this recap, I watched episodes 1-3 and picked out my favorite performances.  The contestants on the episodes did a great job, but these are the particular ones that stayed on my mind after a few weeks.

Without further ado, here are my top performances in round 1, in no particular order.

Jjari Mong Ddang: aka The Short Girls Who Can REALLY Sing

Image

Holy crap can these girls sing.  I thought they were just normal students just trying to make it big, but dayum they are good.  Each one of them had their own unique voice and yet they all blended together nicely and naturally.  YG even commented that they’ve had harmonizing groups on the show before, but now as good as these girls.  There isn’t just one really good singer, they’re all SUPER good which is a plus to my very tone-deaf ears.

Nong Chon Kids: aka The 2 singers and In-Soo

These kids are adorbs.  This group consists of Lee Jung-Jin, Jo Joo-Young, and Hwang In-Soo.  These kids were the star of episode 2 but not for the reasons you may think.  All the judges got a kick out of In-Soo homemade drum which we played the same beat for all they songs they sang.  They had JYP in tears because he laughed so much.  In all seriousness now, the girl has a voice.  But they group could use some growing up first and maybe reach In-Soo a little more.  They still were one of the  most memorable and you can’t help but have a smile on your face when you watch them.

And you gotta love this kids hat, haha.

Lee Chae-Young: aka The One You’ve Wondered Why She Hasn’t Been Scouted Yet

Image

This girl appeared on season 1 but was let go.  She spent the last 2 years preparing for season 3, and it’s done her good.  Back then her dancing is what got her through and her singing was what kept her back.  Now she’s a pretty good singer and she has a uniqueness to her voice.  Of course, her dance skills overwhelmed her singing skills, but by a closer margin this time around.  I’m extremely excited to see how far she’s going to go in this competition and in life.  You just do your thang girl!

Lee Chae-Yeon and Lee Chae-Ryoung: aka The Sisters That You Wished You and Your Sisters Could Be

The younger of the two Lee Chae-Ryoung grooves along to the song. They have another sibling too, and it’s a girl.

Boy was I jealous of these siblings.  My sister and I dreamed of having our own crew, but alas our skills could not reach our dreams.  But hey, we got these girls to look up to, lol.  Anyways, enough about us, these girls blew the judges away with their awesome dancing skills.  Their voices are mediocre but they weren’t bad.  Nothing some good ol’ training can’t fix.  Just look at SHINee’s Taemin and how far he’s gone.  Their dance skills also kind of make you wonder why they haven’t been scouted yet.  I think that the judges are going to put these 2 girls and Lee Chae-Young together and create something magical.  If not, then they should.  But let it be known that if it does happen, I called it!

Almeng: aka The Hip Version of Akdong Musician

These two were the surprise of the show.  I love them.  They sound so good together and man can Choi Rin put down that rap.  She was so good.  My rap skills acknowledge your rap skills, lol jk.  But really, when she started rapping, I was like Aww Sh*t!  And I try not to cuss unless I’m in the car.  I’m super excited for what they have prepared for the next rounds.  Yes, I said roundS, with an S.

That’s a wrap on round 1.  I’m ready to see what round 2 has in store for us.  I just want to comment that, there were other performances I liked but I chose the ones that really stuck on my mind.  The best thing about these shows is that people can really grow and surprise us.

What was your guys’ fave performances?  Let me know in the comments below!
